Overview

SQL Format (sql-format.io) provides a free online SQL formatter. We designed our systems to collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service, improve reliability, and understand aggregate usage.

We do not sell personal data. We do not create user accounts. Information you type into the formatter stays on your device unless you explicitly submit a contact form.

Visit analytics

When you browse the site, our server receives your IP address temporarily to process the request. We never store the raw IP address in our database.

Instead, we store a SHA-256 hash of the IP address to distinguish connections without identifying a natural person. Country of origin is determined from the Cloudflare CF-IPCountry header when available, independent of the stored hash.

We also record a random session identifier (cookie), browser family, device type, page name, and timestamp. These records help us measure traffic and maintain the service.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies for language preference, theme selection, cookie consent, and session identification. You control cookies through your browser settings.

After you format SQL, form values may be saved in your browser localStorage so they reappear on refresh. This data never leaves your device and is your responsibility to clear.

Clearing site data or using private browsing removes locally stored form values.

Contact form

If you send a contact message, we process your name and email only to deliver the email. We do not persist contact submissions in our database.

Under GDPR and LGPD, this transient processing for communication is based on your request when submitting the form.

Your rights

Because we do not maintain profiles or store personal data in our database, most GDPR/LGPD access or erasure requests relating to SQL formatter usage do not apply — the relevant data is on your device or anonymized in visit logs.
